Good Evening Everyone,

How much fun was Round 1! Amazing. We had more than 40 children play their first game of football. This number is even more incredible when you consider that last season only 74 children in total played a game for the Roosters. This season our registered numbers are at 115 and still rising. No wonder I’m tired!  By all accounts all of our little Roosters had fun and our two top aged teams both enjoyed big wins to kick start their 2017 campaigns.

I would like to say a massive thankyou to all the parents who rolled up their sleeves and helped out on match day last weekend. You are awesome! It takes an enormous amount of work to get 5 teams onto the paddock, and without the help of parents, it just wouldn’t happen.

Hoodies

Many of you have taken the opportunity to order a hoodie. We realise that as the season has started right in the middle of the school holidays, many of you may be away and unable to order. Thankfully for you folk we are very nice people and have decided to take orders for these hoodies next Friday night. The usual setup will apply. We will take orders at the conclusion of training.

Registrations

A kind reminder that club registration fees will need to be payed prior to the commencement of Round 3.  If you are having difficulties in paying these fees, we ask that contact us or apply for assistance through the All Aboard Fund via our website. I have received the list of successful applicants for the Active Maribyrnong funding and will be emailing them this weekend with instructions regarding completing the club registration.

Season Fixtures

Today the WRFL released the last 13 rounds of the Junior Fixture for the 2017 season. To check them out just go to the Juniors page of our website. Hopefully you are all aware that there are no games this weekend due to the Easter break.

Training Changes

The downside to having so many children at the club is that it is hard to run training with 100 kids on the ground at the same time.  Due to this we have decided to have the Under 11 and 13 teams train on Tuesday nights. The Under 9s and 10s will continue on Wednesday nights and all teams will train together on Friday nights. We understand this may be inconvenient to some of you, but we are of the firm belief that this will allow us to provide your children with much better training.

Match Reports

This season we will be posting our match reports on the website. We are doing this so that we can archive them. We will incorporate photos from the weekend’s games etc. You can share these with friends by using the social media doodads at the bottom of the reports. Check them out here.

That’s about it for this week.

Wishing you all a happy and safe Easter

Damian
