Good Evening Rooster Parents,

Thankfully round 2 eventually rolled around and we got to burn off all that chocolate your kids put away over the Easter break. I would like to thank all those who volunteered at games over the weekend on behalf of the Team Managers and the Junior Committee. A super massive thanks goes to Kiernan Box for filling in as coach for the Under 9 Blues. His kids aren’t even playing this season. Fantastic effort Mr Box!

Club Registrations

Most of you have already paid up your club fees for the season. The remaining parents should have received an email regarding these fees. The fees need to be paid by Friday night as mentioned in previous emails. Children whose fees are yet to be paid will not be permitted to play until these outstanding fees have been paid. If you need to discuss this please contact our Junior Treasurer Andrew Gerardi on 0419 573 195 or by replying to this email.

Those of you who have applied for All Aboard assistance or have been notified of your successful Active Maribyrnong subsidy will be permitted to play.

Team Managers will be informed of un-financial players on Friday evening and instructed that these players will not be permitted to play.

Pre Match Arrival

Parents are once again reminded to arrive at games at least 50 minutes prior to your child’s match scheduled starting time. Once you have arrived could you please report to your team manager straight away so that we know you are here. Team managers are required to provide team sheets to the umpires and opposing teams 30 minutes prior to the game commencing, so late arrivals are not very helpful at all. It also greatly inconveniences coaches who need to plan for the game, instruct your children and have them suitably warmed up and ready to go.

Our orders for club Hoodies have now been sent to the SCD Apparel. We will update you when they have arrived and get them to you.

Match Reports

The all-important Match Reports from Round 2 are now on our website. Go to the Match Report section to read them. We unfortunately don’t have on this week for the Under 9 Blue game. If you would like to contribute a Match Report for your child’s game please let your coach or team manager know. We also invite all of our budding photographers at the club to click away like crazy at all of our junior games. You can post your snaps on our Facebook page or email them to me directly.  The more shots we have, the more photos get to go on our match reports like this one!

Night Games

The super astute amongst you would have noticed that on 3 weekends this season the WRFL have scheduled all five of our teams to play at home. This is fantastic. Unfortunately this would require us to play both Under 9 games simultaneously on a split field. The kids hate that. The coaches hate that. Everyone hates that! So, I have been in discussions with the local council and have been granted permission to play Friday night games in each of these affected rounds. I have emailed our opposing clubs for these fixtures to gain their approval for the matches concerned and will let you know as soon as these games can be confirmed. Our only night game last season attracted a massive crowd for our kids to play in front of and made for an awesome night where everyone could stick around after training to watch our kids play. 3 in a season will be brilliant. If all goes well, the council are open to playing more night games next season. With the lighting upgrade to commence at the end of our season, we are hopeful that all of our junior grades will be able to play a night game next season.

This Weeks Games

Both of our Under 9 teams will be on the road this Sunday. The 10s, 11s and 13s are at home. To check the fixtures, please go to the Juniors page of our website and click the appropriate fixture button.

Friday Night Canteen

We are still awaiting the completed installation of our new deep fryer in the canteen (Grrrrrrrrr). Thankfully we are a resourceful bunch and will have the bbq fired up on Friday with food available for purchase to feed all the hungry Rooster children and parents. The bar will also be open after training, so stick around for a feed and a drink or two and get to know your fellow Rooster families.

First Aiders

We would still love a couple of certified first aiders to put their hand up to be trainers for our Under 9 sides. If you are qualified could you please let us know as it isn’t fair that it be left up to just one parent to provide this role for the season. Share the load so that everyone has the opportunity to watch their child play.

Junior Committee

The Juniors have experienced exponential growth in the last 24 months where our numbers of registered participants have almost doubled. Our Auskick started again on Saturday and early indications are that we will have even more teams next season. In the coming weeks the current committee will be discussing ways to accommodate this growth through the revamp and expansion of our committee. New roles will be created and current roles split into multiple positions to accommodate the expected growth. We ask that parents think about whether they have skills and knowledge that may be of assistance at a junior football administration level. If you do and would like to help, please let us know either in person or via email. We would love to talk to you and make this awesome junior program even better.

That’s all for this week.

I will see you all at Friday Training
